FCMEA Fall Conference

October 11, 2008

Guidelines:

1.Research submitted for paper presentation must not have been at any other conference.  

2.Research submitted for poster presentation must adhere to the Code of Ethics published regularly in the Journal of Research in Music Education (also available at www.menc.org).  

3.Papers presented at other conferences will be considered for poster presentation if the audience was different (e.g., international or national conference).  A statement specifying the previous presentation must be included with the submission.

4.The research might be quantitative or qualitative.  However, literature reviews will not be considered.  Manuscript style of articles representing description or experimental studies must confirm to the most recent edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association.  Authors of other types of studies (e.g., historical) may submit manuscripts that conform to the most recent edition of either A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertation (Turabian) or The Chicago Manual of Style (15A).

5.Only Electronic submissions will be considered by FCMEA Review Committee.  Submit one file containing the full copy of your report, including an abstract not to exceed 250 words, with no title page.  The full report should contain no information pertaining to the identity of the author(s) or their institutional affiliation.  The following information should be included in the body of your email message: 1) the author(s) name(s); 2) current position(s) and institutional affiliation; 3) contact information: mailing address, telephone(s) and email address; 4) the report’s title; 5) the abstract; and 6) any additional information concerning previous presentations.  Please specify whether you want your submission to be considered for a presentation or poster session.  The entire file should not exceed 6000 words in length.  Send the file as either a Word document (.doc or .docx) or Portable Document format (.pdf).  Submissions that do not include the aforementioned information will be rejected.

6.You will be notified of receipt of your submission and the FCMEA Review Committee’s decision by email.

7.Submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), September 19, 2008.  Extensions will not be granted.  If you have not received email confirmation of your manuscript by September 22, 2008, please contact John Seybert at jmseybert@seuniversity.edu.        

8.All submitters will be notified of the FCMEA Review Committee’s decision no later than September 30, 2008. 

9.All presenters and attendees are expected to register and attend all sessions at the FCMEA Fall Conference on October 11, 2008.

The Florida College Music Educators Association (FCMEA) is pleased to announce its first Research Poster Session to be held at the FCMEA Fall Conference on Saturday October 11, 2008.  The purpose of this research session is to provide an opportunity for the dissemination and discussion of new scholarship relating to music education.  Individuals are encouraged to submit proposals for presentation in which they might share new, unpublished research. Research investigations currently in progress will also be considered.  Submissions are invited for either paper presentation or poster presentation.
